Another cybersex den busted in Angeles

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) of the regional police busted another cybersex den allegedly operated by a 66-year-old American in Angeles City last Monday.

This brought to 10 the total number of computer shops and residences raided in Angeles City alone since the government stepped up its campaign against cyber pornography.

Superintendent Salvador Manga, CIDU-Region 3 officer, said the cybersex den’s alleged operator, James Paul Kelly, was arrested during the raid on his residence in Don Bonifacio Subdivision in Barangay Balibago, just near the Angeles City Hall.

Kelly’s alleged partner, a certain Dave Fischer, a Canadian national, eluded arrest, while six women working as "cyber models" were rescued, Manga said.

The raid was conducted on the strength of a search warrant issued by Judge Blas Causapin of the Guimba, Nueva Ecija Regional Trial Court.

Last Saturday, agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) swooped down on an Internet café also allegedly engaged in cyber pornography in Angeles City.

The raiding team seized nine computers worth P450,000 from the cybersex den along Zeppelin street in Hensonville, Barangay Malabanias.

Last Aug. 10, CIDU-Region 3 operatives raided the house of American couple Tom and Virginia Deassy, who, however, both eluded arrest.

Chief Inspector Erickson Maniego, leader of the raiding team, said Kelly tagged Deassy as the alleged owner of cybersex dens in many parts of the country, particularly in known tourist destinations. — With Evelyn Macairan
